TIM Walz has been governor of the midwestern state of Minnesota since 2018.
The politician was chosen by Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris to be her running mate in the 2024 elections.
Who is Tim Walz?
The 60-year-old Democratic governor was born in Nebraska. Tim Walz enlisted in the National Guard after high school before attending Chadron State College.
He became a teacher abroad before returning to the United States to serve in the National Guard. Later in his career, he became a high school teacher and coach. He met his wife, Gwen, while teaching.
The two taught together at Mankata West High School. During his tenure, Walz helped lead the school’s football team to its first state championship.
Walz retired from the National Guard in 2005 and decided to run for public office. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2006. He served five terms before running for governor of his state. He won the elections in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022.
