The Minnesota governor has emerged as a late-night dark horse candidate in the vice presidential race after weeks of speculation.

Endorsements and criticisms came quickly after Tuesday morning’s announcement.
Reactions largely fell along party lines, with Republicans rejecting the ticket and Democrats appraising the new partnership enthusiastically.
Trump’s campaign called Walz “dangerously liberal” in an email to supporters and said he would “unleash hell on Earth.”
Donald Trump’s son Don Jr. simply wrote, “Holy crap!!!” on X in response to the news.

Trump did not comment on the announcement on his personal Truth Social account, but did to write, “Thanks!” after the news dropped.

The former president’s team also released an affirmation on the official Democratic ticket.
His campaign statement read: “It’s no surprise that San Francisco liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast hopeful Tim Walz as her running mate – Walz spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State.”
He went on to state that Walz only pretended to support Americans and believed that rural America is “mostly cows and rocks.”
“From proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emissions standards for gas-powered cars, to adopting policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide,” the statement continued.
“If Walz won’t tell voters the truth, we will: Like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist, and California’s Harris-Walz dream is every American’s nightmare.”
Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, spoke to Fox News as he boarded his plane.
Vance said he left Walz a voicemail congratulating him on the news and was looking forward to a “robust conversation.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the ticket was “the most left-wing in American history.”
“Minnesota was ground zero for the BLM riots in 2020. Harris encouraged it and Walz sat back and let Minneapolis burn,” he added.
Former US Ambassador Nikki Haley added on X: “Democrats double down on progressive movement. A win for open borders, socialism and Iran.”
Walz broke his silence after the news broke, declaring the position a “lifetime honor.”
“I’m in,” he added.
“Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a little of the first day of school. So let’s do it, everyone! Join us.”
The governor has already changed his bio on X to – “Running to win this thing with @KamalaHarris”.

Across the aisle, prominent Democrats praised Harris’ decision.
Senator Bernie Sanders was the first to praise the ticket, calling Walz a “great asset.”
“He is a former public school teacher, football coach and strong union supporter,” Sanders added.

President Biden weighed in on Harris’ decision to hire Walz, reflecting on the moment he decided to ask her to join his campaign.
“The Harris-Walz ticket will be a powerful voice for working people and America’s great middle class,” praised Biden.
“They will be the strongest defenders of our personal freedoms and our democracy. And they will ensure that America continues to lead the world and fulfill its role as an indispensable nation.”
Former President Barack Obama also gave Walz a glowing review, calling him an “ideal partner” for Harris.
“Governor Walz not only has the experience to be vice president, he has the values and integrity that make us all proud,” Obama said in a statement.
He praised Walz for helping families in the wake of the pandemic by establishing paid family leave, protecting abortion rights and implementing gun safety laws.
Obama added that Walz’s signature was “his ability to speak like a human being and treat everyone with decency and respect – which isn’t all that surprising considering the fact that he served in the National Guard for 24 years and worked as a school teacher.” high school social studies and football coach before being elected to Congress.”

Shapiro was the favorite to be Harris’ running mate until he nominated Walz this morning.
The governor of Pennsylvania told his supporter on X that his job is with the state and not as vice president.
“Over the next 90 days, I hope to travel across the Commonwealth to unite Pennsylvanians in support of my friends Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and defeat Donald Trump,” he wrote.
Shapiro confirmed that he was part of the vice presidential selection process and had the honor of speaking with Harris about her vision for the country.
He will attend Harris’ rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday alongside his new running mate.
Harris and Walz will campaign together for the first time in a swing state that they will need to secure in November to take the White House.
