WASHINGTON – As Project 2025 hits turmoilThe head of the influential, far-right Heritage Foundation is postponing the release of his potentially inflammatory new book until after November. presidential election.

Kevin Roberts, who took on Project 2025 as part of a change of leadership amid criticism of his recommendations for a potential Donald Trump White House, said Wednesday he is focused on defeating the presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. from Trump running mate JD Vancewrote the attacker to Roberts’ book.

“There is a time to write, read and go on book tours — and a time to put down the books and fight like hell to take back our country,” said Roberts, president of Heritage Action, who has been mentioned as a potential White House chief of staff from Trump, in a statement.

“This is why I chose to postpone the publication and promotion of my book until after the election,” he said. The news website Real Clear Politics first reported the decision.

Orchestrated by Heritage, Project 2025 is a ultraconservative model for the next Republican White House, with surprising proposals that include laying off much of the federal government’s workforce and dismantling long-standing agencies, including the Justice Department.

Trump said the outside group does not speak on behalf of his campaign, but many of his most trusted former White House officials are the architects of the plan and are preparing for a second Trump administration. Even before Harris emerged to replace the president Joe Biden At the top of the party ticket, Democrats campaigned vigorously against Project 2025, portraying it as a buzzword for Republican extremism.

Roberts’ book, “Dawn’s Early Light,” would be released in September. He outlines a vision for what his editor calls “ a peaceful ‘Second American Revolution’.”

O publisher description says the book identifies institutions that conservatives need to build or restore, adding that some are “too corrupt to be saved.” Among those listed are Ivy League colleges, the FBI, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the Department of Education and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Vance, aheadquotes Roberts as saying that when dusk falls and a person hears wolves, “You have to circle the wagons and load the muskets.”

“Now we’re all realizing it’s time to round up the wagons and load the muskets,” adds Vance. “In the struggles that lie ahead, these ideas are an essential weapon.”

A spokesperson for Vance said the advancement has nothing to do with Project 2025 and that the senator has no involvement and “many disagreements with what they are asking for.”

The book’s postponement comes a day after Harris took advantage Tim Walzthe Minnesota governor as his running mate, reinvigorating a campaign that has roiled Democrats in the few weeks since Biden left office.

Walz transformed the political debate by simply declaring Republicans “weird.”

Harris for President spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika said: “Trump, Vance and their Project 2025 allies may try to hide the ball from the American people, but voters know where they stand — and that they are desperately trying to drag us back.” .

At the same time, House Democrats who launched a Project 2025 task force are asking Roberts to meet with members of Congress as they further investigate the proposal.

Rep. Jared Huffman of California and Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts said in a letter this week that “it is time to stop hiding the ball on what we are concerned could very well be the most radical, extreme and dangerous parts of Project 2025.” .”

Although Democrats, as a minority in the House, do not have the authority to force Roberts to come forward, they are using their position to raise awareness of the project, and particularly its so-called fourth pillar – a 180-day action plan for the next administration that Project 2025 has prepared, but has not yet been released.

“Allow the American people to see and examine,” the lawmakers wrote.

Heritage has not said whether Roberts will respond to the House lawmakers’ request.

Roberts, in her statement Wednesday, said Democrats are “more radical than ever” about Harris’ agenda. He said the Conservatives are “fully committed to focusing our efforts on helping defeat the left at the polls.”

Project 2025 recently underwent an overhaul with its director, Paul Dans left abruptly last week, amid the Trump campaign’s efforts to distance itself from the group and its proposals.

Roberts said he was taking on Project 2025 and assured that his work would continue.
