Donald Trump’s campaign claimed that its internal communications were hacked.
The campaign reportedly blamed “foreign sources hostile to the United States” for the hack.
Political first reported the hack after receiving emails from an anonymous account that included Trump campaign documents.
The campaign alleged that Iranian hackers “sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official in a presidential campaign.”
Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, told Politico that the documents were “illegally obtained from foreign sources” and were “intended to interfere” with the 2024 election.
“On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘senior official’ in the June 2024 U.S. presidential campaign, which coincides with the upcoming selection of a vice presidential candidate. -presidency by President Trump.”
Microsoft reported in April that they were tracking information pointing to Iran’s intention to influence the 2024 presidential election.
