RRepublican presidential nominee Donald Trump has responded to the Democratic Party’s apparent new strategy against him and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio: by calling them outsiders.

At a rally in Montana on Friday, the former president fired back at Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, using the term to describe them. “No, we are not strangers. We are very solid people. We want to have strong borders. We want to have good elections…” said Trump. “I think we’re the opposite of weird. They are strange.

Trump went on to say that Kamala Harris’ campaign team “works[ing] with the press” to feature “sound bites” of him and Vance being called “weird.”

“It’s unbelievable. You know that’s not a word that’s used a lot in politics,” Trump said. “No, JD Vance is a great patriot.”

Trump shared a video of your comments on your Truth Social account in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At a rally in Pennsylvania on August 7, during Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s meeting first speech as Vice President Harris’ official running mate, he debuted by calling Trump and Vance weird, commenting that they are “scary” and “weird as hell.”

In his Friday speech, Trump listed several policies Walz signed into law while governor, including his support for a 2024 state law that requires all Minnesota public schools to provide menstrual products in bathrooms.

“Think about the things I just said and he says ‘JD Vance is weird,’” Trump said.

Walz used the “outsider” label when addressing Republican candidates in July.

“These guys are just weird. They’re running for He-Man’s wife haters club or something. That’s what they do. That’s not what people are interested in,” Walz said in MSNBC on July 23rd.

Walz had already used the term to describe some Republicans, but his appearance on MSNBC apparently set Democrats on the path to embracing the term party-wide.

Harris’ campaign then sent a press release on July 25, doubling down, saying that one of the key takeaways from a recent Trump appearance on Fox News was: “Is Trump old and really weird?”

Interestingly, Trump also used the term “weird” to describe Harris in the past tense, but the word is now being used repeatedly about him and his running mate, Vance.
