Former president donald trump allegedly used a slur often directed at women to describe the vice president Kamala Harris during at least two private conversations. His campaign denies this.
The New York Times cited two people who, on separate occasions, heard Trump call Harris a “b——.” People were given anonymity to describe private discussions.
In response, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said, “That is not the language President Trump used to describe Kamala and it is not how the campaign would characterize her.”
Trump, a Republican, has a history of making derogatory statements about women and his political opponents. He called Democratic presidential nominee Harris and other women, including 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, “nasty” and bragged about grabbing female genitalia in the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape.
He called Carly Fiorina, one of his rivals for the Republican nomination in 2016, “horse face” during a campaign debate. Last month, Trump falsely said that Harris, who is black and of Asian descent, deceived voters about your race.
Trump said E. Jean Carroll, a writer who accused him of raping her, was a “crazy man” who made up “a fraudulent and false story” to sell a memoir. A New York jury found Trump responsible for sexual abusebut not rape, in a civil case brought by Carroll.
Trump also directed derogatory comments at men. He labeled former rivals Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida “Little Marco,” Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas “Lying Ted” and former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida “Low Jeb.” energy”.
