CHINESE spies are targeting key politicians during elections, a former Conservative leader has warned.

Sir Iain Duncan Smith said Beijing’s goons were nicknamed “Wolf Warriors” target him around the world and are spying on his re-election campaign.

They send emails to other politicians, pretending that Sir Iain has changed his mind about Beijing.

The conservative big beast believes he is targeted because he has accused China of committing genocide against the Uyghur Muslim population in Xinjiang.

And in today’s episode of our new election show, he warned that Beijing is already meddling in the general election.

The MP for Chingford and Woodford Green said: “I and others have Wolf Warriors – low-level agents.

“Guys who imitate you and go around the world saying you changed your mind.

“I get emails from a lot of politicians around the world saying, ‘I don’t understand why you changed your mind and became very supportive of President Xi.’ And I come back and say it’s not me, it’s someone else.”

Sir Iain is among seven British MPs who have been sanctioned by the Chinese government for defending the Uyghurs.

He added: “They are literally putting people into slave labor, sterilizing women and teaching children to become Han Chinese and not Uyghur Muslims.”

Sir Iain said it was “almost certain” that China would interfere in the general election.

He added: “I accept in cash they follow us wherever we go, they track what we do, what we say. We had interventions.

“One of my colleagues, Tim Loughton, was detained at Djibouti airport because the Chinese pretty much run that country, as far as I can understand, and they just said not to let him in.”

Sir Iain said he always assumes his phone is being listened to every day, so he puts it in a cupboard for sensitive conversations.

And he also issued a stark warning about the threats facing the UK.

“We are facing the greatest challenge since the end of the Cold War,” he said.

“We have a new axis of totalitarian states – China, North Korea, Russia and Iran.

“They work closely with Iran – the attacks in Gaza organized by Iran – were also aimed at relieving pressure on Russia in Ukraine, because America would have to divert its attention.

“We are right in the middle of a war and the problem is that we are losing this war and we don’t even know we are in it.”
