REPRESENTATIVE John Rose was overshadowed by his son, who brought light-hearted fun to Congress by making funny faces while his father gave a speech.

Rose took to the House podium on Monday to share her opinion on former President Donald Trump’s conviction on 34 criminal charges in his secret trial last week.

The Tennessee Republican characterized the trial as an unfair political process and emphasized the “terrible precedents” set by the decision.

Rose maintained a somber appearance throughout the speech, alternating between reading and looking at his listeners seriously.

But Rose’s 6-year-old son Guy didn’t seem interested in his father’s lecture – so instead he created his own entertainment.

In a clip captured on CSPAN by Sky Newsthe child is first seen sitting behind his father with a wide smile on his face as he rocks back and forth in the seat.

As the speech progresses, Guy appears to become even more apathetic.

He starts to widen his eyes and open his mouth in funny shapes and sizes, as if he’s looking at himself in a mirror.

As Rose began to say, “Regardless of anyone’s opinion of the current Republican candidate, we would do well to remember the long and cherished tradition we have in this country of resolving our political differences at the ballot box,” Guy stuck out his tongue and shook his head, making made him (and many spectators) smile even more.

Towards the end of the clip, the adorable little boy starts playing with his hands and forming shadow puppets for a few seconds.

Rose seems blissfully unaware of the game his eldest son is playing behind him.

Guy had been accompanying his father on Capitol Hill all week to give his wife a break from childcare responsibilities, according to The hill.

Rose’s wife, Chelsea Rose, also cares for their 3-year-old son Sam while working full time.

Guy’s impromptu performance made him the darling of both Republicans and Democrats in Congress.

After Rose saw the clip, he shared a copy on his X profile with a caption that said it all.

“This is what I get for telling my son Guy to smile for the camera for his little brother,” the GOP insider captioned it. publish.
