The People’s Army is on the march with General Nigel Farage leading the way, Reform’s Lee Anderson has warned.

The Red Wall firebrand insisted the Brexit supremo’s declaration of war on the Conservatives is “good for the country” as “no one has a divine right to rule”.

The former Tory MP told The Sun’s Never Mind The Ballots: “It’s the political revolution this country he wants”

He also revealed that some Tories are now begging him to stand down for reformist candidates to save them from annihilation.

But he told them bluntly on our show, “The answer is no.”

Farage also declared this morning that he would “under no circumstances” agree to reject his candidates.

Also appearing on the program, Sun on Sunday political correspondent Sophia Sleigh said the Conservatives she was speaking to were “nervous”.

And he revealed that several of them wanted Rishi Sunak to make a deal with Mr Farage to stop him running.

Despite weeks of denying he was planning another bid for a Commons seat, the Brexiteer announced on Monday afternoon he would replace struggling reform leader Richard Tice and stay in Clacton.

His shock return is a hammer blow for the prime minister – who had pinned his hopes on ending political annihilation by reducing support for his right-wing rival party.

Asked by The Sun’s political editor on Sunday, Kate Ferguson, whether he felt bad about his former party, Anderson said: “That’s policy. No one has a divine right to rule this country. No one has a God-given right to assume he will be re-elected in the general election.

“It’s good for politics. It’s good for the country.

“That certainly stirred up a bit of a hornet’s nest. It is the political revolution that this country wants.

“People Army is on the march and we have the best General, Mr Farage.

Anderson, who defected to Reform in March, becoming its only MP, refused to say whether he wanted to see the destruction of the Conservatives.

But he added: “What I want to see is that Parliament really represents the people of this country.”

Conveying a sense of panic among Conservatives, Mr Anderson said: “These former Conservative colleagues are texting me now and saying… ‘can you resign from my seat?

“And the answer is no.”

‘Nervous’ Tories are ‘freaking out’ over ‘big beast’ Nigel Farage’s reform stunt, Sun says on Sunday’s political correspondent

SUN’s political correspondent on Sunday, Sophia Sleigh, said the Tory MPs she was speaking to were “nervous”.

And she said a number of them wanted Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to do a deal with Farage.

“Not good news for Downing Street yesterday and today,” she told The Sun’s Never Mind The Ballots.

“We are still talking about Nigel Farage and will continue to talk about him in the coming days.

“Coupled with this poll, conservatives are very, very nervous today.”

Sleigh said the Reforms are a “big threat” to the Conservatives, adding: “I think they are a big threat in the sense that they will bite into the Tory vote, which will allow Labor to get to the middle in some of these seats.

“I know Conservative MPs – I spoke to some this morning – are freaking out about this. It’s not because they’re going to lose their seat to Reform, it’s because they’re going to lose to Labor because of Reform. .

“They are absolutely mad that Nigel Farage is back on the pitch because he is a huge figure on the right.

“Some Conservative MPs until very recently wanted a deal with Nigel Farage. They wanted Rishi Sunak to come to some kind of agreement so that he would call in the dogs and help them.”
