VOTERS are furious with Rishi Sunak over his run on D-Day but don’t fully trust “smug” Sir Keir Starmer, a focus group reveals.

Our group of seven supported Boris Johnson in 2019 but said they are now exploring voting Conservative, Labor or reforming Nigel Farage.

But Sir Keir Starmer was told he needed to reveal more about his plans to be more appealing to our focus group.

They were asked about their views on the two party leaders and their plans by polling firm More In Common.

The group also spoke about the PM’s return from Normandy early for an interview with ITV News last Thursday.

Retiree Priscilla criticized Sunak for leaving France early, adding it was disrespectful to veterans and heads of state like Joe Biden.

She continued: “He disappeared just to do a television interview about finance.

“We know about D-Day 80 years ago – it’s not like he was surprised by it.

“He needed to be there. He was not prime minister. I think he was really disappointed.”

Asked whether she accepted his apology on Friday, the pensioner said: “I think he’s a pretty honest man, but he shouldn’t have done it in the first place.”

Customer service manager Kellie added: “I actually think it was quite disrespectful, to be honest.

“And if he was advised to do that, he probably should have said no.”

But turning the jets on Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer, retired Kevin fumed: “I have nothing positive to say.

“We’re talking about a man who can’t even tell what a woman is… I just don’t think he’s suitable for prime minister.”

Customer service worker Jim, who said he was turning to the Labor Party, said he wanted to hear more about Sir Keir’s plans before voting.

He added: “I don’t particularly love him, but I don’t particularly hate him.

“I’ll give him a chance, but I’m not 100% sure.”

But engineer Greg branded him “presumptuous”, adding: “He strikes I’m like the annoying kid at school.

“I can’t get over it. I don’t even want to hear what policies he has.”

Priscilla said she feared Starmer would bow to the wishes of “very tough” second-in-command Angela Rayner, adding: “Is he going to change his mind all the time depending on who he spoke to last?”

NHS administrator Jane added: “He makes a lot of noise. He’s too busy scoring points against Rishi because he clearly wants her job.

“But he’s so busy attacking and identifying problems and flaws that he’s not being proactive and actually telling us what he would change or how he would change it.

“If he gave us a little more information about it, I would consider him better.”

Some members of the group added that recently returned reformist leader Nigel Farage – who will be an MP for the eighth time next month – could influence them to leave the Conservatives.

Nail technician Charlotte said the firebrand’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity “changed” her mind.

She added: “I think he said things that are not always popular.

“Let’s be fair, he says what most people want to say without really caring about it.”

But Jane countered: “I find it quite disgusting and scary. I just don’t think so, it’s not for me.”

Asked who they would buy a used car from, five said Sunak, while one said Sir Keir and Farage.

Greg joked: “Nigel’s car has some sawdust in the gearbox, Keir’s has a dodgy MOT. And so the only one I have left is Rishi, unfortunately.”
