NIGEL Farage has revealed he is open to leading a merged Conservative and Reform party if the Conservatives are crushed at the general election.

The Reform chief and Brexit mischief-maker said he would take charge of a right-wing “national opposition” to Labor if Sir Keir Starmer is elected within three weeks.

He told LBC: “I think something new will emerge on the centre-right, I don’t know what it’s called.

“Do I think I am capable of leading a national opposition to a Labor Party with a large majority, where I can stand up and hold them to account on the issues? Yes.

“I would be prepared to lead the center-right in this country.

“A centre-right who defends business, who believes in borders and who is not afraid to defend the British people.”

Farage said he would not be prepared to lead the Conservative Party “as it currently is”, but asked if he would lead a group merged with the UK Reform party, he replied: “Yes”.

But he warned that the Conservative Party “may well be dead” if Keir Starmer wins a supermajority of voters.

He added: “This could very well be the end of his journey. I would be prepared to lead the center-right in this country.”

The new pivot comes despite Farage previously insisting that comments on our Never Mind The Ballots program – where he asked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to make him an offer – were not serious.

He told our political editor Harry Cole that the Tories deserved to be voted out for “betraying” voters on immigration and Brexit.

However, he also seemed to suggest there was room for compromise, telling Rishi: “Give me something back… We can talk.”

This morning he accused the Conservatives of lying to voters and claimed that the Reform would be approved by the Conservatives at the polls within a few days.

Some polls have already shown Reform trailing its right-wing rivals by a single point, after Farage’s return gave the emerging group a four-point boost.

He said of the polls: “I think we are very close to a inflection point.

“The election is over, Labor won.

“It’s a question of who you want in the opposition.

“Conservatives are incapable of opposition because they hate each other.”

And asked whether he believed the Conservatives had misled the electorate on previous promises to reduce net migration, he criticized: “If we repeatedly lie to people, we might get away with it sometimes… 2.5 million people have settled here over of the year”. the last two years.”

Farage, 60, has also been angered by other mainstream politicians for not meeting people during campaign stops.

The party boss added that meeting ordinary people was the reason he was sprayed with a milkshake in Clacton, Essex, where he is an MP for the eighth time.

And on Tuesday he had objects thrown at his Reform UK bus while campaigning in Barnsley.

The repeated attacks have led to Farage offering extra Home Office security during campaign events.

He continued: “I dare to break the consensus, I dare to talk about things that people don’t touch.

“I actually do campaign visits.

“Conservatives are afraid of the crowd, I will never surrender to the crowd.”
