The PM has accused Nigel Farage of acting like Nazi appeaser Neville Chamberlain for saying the West is to blame for the invasion of Ukraine.
The leader of the Reform Party sparked fury by claiming that NATO and the EU “provoked” Vladimir Putin to declare war.
Rishi Sunak said the extraordinary claim was “completely wrong” and “plays into Putin’s hands”.
He told The Sun on Sunday: “This is a man who has implanted nerve agents on the streets of Britain and is doing deals with countries like North Korea.
“This kind of appeasement is dangerous for the security of Britain and the security of our allies who trust us, and will only further embolden Putin.”
Echoing the words of the former Conservative Defense Secretary, he added: “Ben Wallace was right when he said Nigel is more Chamberlain than Churchill.”
Chamberlain made an infamous deal with Adolf Hitler in 1938, allowing Nazi Germany to invade part of Czechoslovakia in exchange for “peace in our time.”
It went down in history as one of the most humiliating agreements ever reached by a British Prime Minister.
He failed and World War II broke out in 1939.
Sir Keir Starmer also criticized Nigel’s comments, calling them “disgraceful”.
He said: “Anyone running for Parliament must make it very clear that Russia is the aggressor, that Putin bears responsibility and that we stand with Ukraine, as we have done since the beginning of this conflict.
“Parliament has spoken with one voice on this issue since the beginning of the conflict.”
In a BBC interview broadcast on Friday night, Nigel said: “I stood up in the European Parliament in 2014 and said, and I quote,
‘There will be a war in Ukraine’.
“Why do I say this?
“It was obvious to me that the ever-increasing eastward expansion of NATO and the European Union was giving this man a reason for his Russian people to say, ‘They’re coming after us again’ and to go to war.”
