SIR Keir Starmer was criticized this evening by Jeremy Corbyn as he faced a series of tiresome questions from Sun readers.
The Labor Party leader even praised Boris Johnson when he was grilled by Sun political editor Harry Cole about our election showdown.
Sir Keir insisted once again that “no Labor leader has done anything as serious” as expelling Corbyn from the party.
He says, ‘I’m not going to tell the electorate, what do you think you’re doing?’
“I’m going to tell my party we need to shake this up and change this.
“I thought it was right to fight the big battles within the cabinet.
“I wanted to stay (in the EU), but now that we’ve left, there’s no going back.”
Sir Keir even praised Boris Johnson for his support for Ukraine.
He said: “I thought it was important, Boris Johnson thought it was important.
“The only winner, if there were a split in our politics, would be Putin.
“It is in the national interest that we speak with one voice about something as crucial as Ukraine.”
He says he told Volodymyr Zelensky that “there will be no change in our support for Ukraine if there is a change of government.”
Sir Keir has previously dodged questions about whether he truly believed Corbyn would have been a “great” prime minister.
Last week he was repeatedly asked about his support, but insisted: “It wasn’t an issue that really came up because I didn’t think we were going to win the election.”
Instead, Sir Keir said Corbyn would have been a better prime minister than Boris Johnson.
Sir Keir was also questioned about his claim that the Conservatives had constructed a “Jeremy Corbyn-style manifesto”.
He said the Tories would “load everything in a wheelbarrow” without explaining how to pay for it.
Conservatives criticized Starmer for changing his tune in his support for Corbyn and potentially lying to the public.
Former Tory minister Sir Simon Clarke criticized: “This is coming from the guy who supported two ‘real’ Corbyn manifestos.
“The sheer courage is unbelievable.”
