Chief Judge Anna Blackburn-Rigsby wrote the order, which was first obtained by Political.

“The defendant is immediately suspended from the practice of law in the District of Columbia pending the resolution of this matter,” the order said.

It went on to explain that the Washington DC Bar Association’s Board of Professional Responsibility has been instructed to conduct a formal proceeding to determine whether the suspension will be permanent.

Specifically, the board will analyze the nature of the conviction and “whether it involved moral turpitude” under the D.C. Code.

The decision comes days after the Office of Disciplinary Counsel proposed the suspension, pointing to the rules governing members of the D.C. Bar Association, according to NBC News.

O rules note that if a lawyer is found guilty of a serious crime, including any felony, the Court may issue an order to immediately suspend the lawyer.

However, the court may also waive any suspension order “when it appears in the interests of justice to do so”.

On June 11, Hunter, 54, was found guilty by a jury on three charges related to purchasing and carrying a gun while using drugs.

A sentencing date for the president’s son has not yet been set.

He faces a maximum fine of $250,000 for each count, as well as prison time.
