The Home Secretary said the Labor Party would try to take power “permanently”, giving votes to 16-year-olds, prisoners and foreign citizens.

James Cleverly has warned that Sir Keir Starmer will “twist” the political system in his favor if he holds the keys to tenth place on Thursday.

He criticized that the General Election is not intended to give the Tories a “reprimand” for their mistakes over the last 14 years – and voters should be worried about hidden Labor tax rises.

He told the BBC: “The reason this is so important is because Labor has already said they are going to mess up the system, they have said they are going to pack the House of Lords, they have said they are going to get votes at 16, they are going to get votes for citizens. foreigners, will probably get votes for criminals.

“They are determined to have a permanent Labor government and they are quite willing to distort the British political system to achieve that – that is what is at stake.

“This is not an election to give conservatives an earful, and many people may think that is legitimate.

“This is about the next five years or more and Labor will charge taxes, which is inevitable given the spending commitments they have already made, let alone the ones they have hidden from people.

“They said they are going to distort the political system and I think there is a real risk, there is a genuine risk that they will take the majority, if that is what they can do to try to secure their power permanently, because they don’t really feel confident that they will be able to present a credible case to the British people at the next general election.”

He said there is “no credible analysis” to say that Reform could be the largest opposition party.

He told Sky News: “There is no credible analysis that suggests this is possible.

“The best case scenario envisages that Reform might get a small handful of MPs, but in doing so, give Labor a huge majority, which they would use to get votes at 16, votes for prisoners, votes for foreign nationals.

“They are determined to manipulate the system to get a permanent Labor government and I don’t think that’s what Conservative voters or potential reform voters want.”

Asked whether any of his party colleagues were having their “heads turned” by UK reformist leader Nigel Farage, Mr Cleverly said: “I don’t know anyone in my party who is being seduced by that.”

He added: “I have made it very, very clear on numerous occasions that someone who has made it his aim to destroy the Conservative Party and hand over a large majority, a permanent majority, potentially if they manipulate the electoral system, to a (Labour) party led by a man who said all immigration legislation was racist, knelt while BLM protesters attacked cops instead of supporting our police, who said all immigration legislation is racist, that’s what a vote for Reform would make.

Only the reduction of the voting age to 16 is described in the Labor manifesto.

A Labor spokesman said: “Desperate James Cleverly is lying. The Conservatives are once again trying to mislead Sun readers.

“Voters have the opportunity to turn the page on 14 years of conservative chaos. But change with the Labor Party will only be possible if people vote in favor on Thursday.”
