BORIS Johnson sensationally joined the election campaign last night to warn Britain not to enter “Starmergeddon”.

The former PM buried the hatchet with Rishi Sunak to brand the vote for Labor as “a vote for higher taxes, uncontrolled immigration, mandatory wake-up call and futile submission to Brussels”.

The Conservative duo joined fellow Brex supporter Michael Gove in a last-ditch attempt to defeat a Labor “supermajority” at a rally in central London.

Boris Johnson was greeted with cheers, claps, whistles and shouts of “Boris, Boris, Boris”.

The former PM and his successor did not appear on stage together and Johnson’s motorcade left the building while Sunak was still on stage.

If you want uncontrolled immigration, a mandatory awakening and a pointless bow to Brussels, then go ahead and vote for Starmer

Boris Johnson

Johnson said: “I tell you how grateful I am for everything you have done and for being so late tonight – way past Keir Starmer’s bedtime, we were told.

“And if you are a little surprised to see me, I want to make it clear that I was happy when the PM asked me for help and I couldn’t say no.

“I’m here for one reason and one reason only – the same reason you’re here – because we love our country, and whatever our differences are, they are utterly trivial compared to the disaster we face if these opinion polls are right – and that’s a big if.

“I think the British people will still show more common sense on Thursday, still pull themselves away from the abyss.”

He continued: “But if the research is right, then at the very moment this country beat Covid and beat post-Covid inflation, at the very moment we should be encouraging entrepreneurship and growth, and putting money back into people’s lives. pockets – Westminster is about to move diametrically in the wrong direction and so we cannot simply sit by while a Labor government prepares to use a majority sledgehammer to destroy much of what we have achieved – what you have achieved.

“Five years ago you helped launch Jeremy Corbyn and his then disciple Keir Starmer into orbit – and we got Brexit done.

“We have restored democracy to this country. It was because we got a proper Brexit – and remember how difficult that fight was – that we left the EU single market, we controlled our own regulation, and my friends, whatever you say – that market National independence was vital when it came to approving vaccines faster than any EU country, and achieving the fastest vaccine rollout of any major economy, and the fastest economic recovery in the G7.

“And let me ask you: which of all 200 countries on the planet was the first government, after all the miseries of Covid, to put a licensed, approved and effective Covid vaccine into the arms of our citizens?”

The former prime minister continued: “It was the British government, a Brexit government, a Conservative government.

“It was thanks to Brexit – which you helped to bring about – that this country was able to take the lead in defending Ukraine, in handing over Aukus, and it is thanks to Brexit that today we can finally control our own borders.

“And it won’t be the height of insanity, if these polls are right, we are about to give Labor an absolute majority which they will use to make us nothing more than the punks of Brussels – accepting EU law but without a word about how it is done, by refinancing Brussels’ budgets – you see – dismantling the Rwandan scheme at the moment it is about to come into force, at the moment it is being imitated by governments around the world, at the moment it is really starting to act as a deterrent and bring back uncontrolled free movement as the price of Starmer’s deal with the EU.”

He said: “Does this country really want to give Starmer that kind of mandate?

If we want to protect our democracy and our economy and keep this country strong abroad by spending 2.5% of our GDP on defense, then the only way to do that is to vote Conservative on Thursday.

Boris Johnson

“Workers are so arrogant that they barely hide their agenda, raising pension and property taxes, persecuting private enterprise, attacking private education and private health care – with all the useless extra burden it will place on the taxpayer.

“And all the time poor Starmer is so afraid of disobeying left-wing dogma that he is reluctant to explain the difference between a man and a woman, and sits there with his mouth opening and closing like a dazed mullet.”

‘CRAZINESS’

Johnson asked: “Do we want this madness? Do we want ever higher taxes?

“Do we want more weird wakery imposed on our schools?

“And yet all this is happening now, this week, this gigantic Labor majority is pregnant with horrors – because even though Labour’s vote share is much lower than ours in 2019, and even though Starmer has low approval ratings remember for a man in his position, our system will provide that absolute majority – because many good, moderate Conservatives are about to vote for other parties and thus get exactly the opposite of what they really want, even if those other parties turn out to be full of Kremlin creeps who actually make excuses for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“They say Putin is a good operator, runs a tight ship, and if that’s what they mean by a man who shoots journalists, poisons his opponents and kills thousands of innocent Ukrainian civilians – I say shame on you.

“They can achieve nothing at this election except usher in the most left-wing Labor government since the war, with a huge majority, and we must not allow that to happen.

“Don’t let the Putinists hand over the Corbynistas.

“Don’t let Putin’s pet parrots cause psittacosis throughout the country.

“If you really want higher taxes – if you feel like you have a few thousand to spare – then vote Labor on Thursday.

“If you want uncontrolled immigration, a mandatory awakening and a pointless bow to Brussels, then go ahead and vote for Starmer.

“But if we want to protect our democracy and our economy and keep this country strong abroad by spending 2.5% of our GDP on defense, then the only way to do that is to vote Conservative on Thursday.

“I know you will, and thank you again for everything you’ve done, and it’s not too late to tell everyone else.”

Former PM David Cameron was also in the audience, as was Johnson’s wife Carrie.

The Sun understands the event was kept under the strictest secrecy, with only a few aides knowing the identity of the mystery guest.
