A new Yahoo News/YouGov Search confirmed what most viewers felt after last Thursday’s presidential debate: that it was a disastrous night for 81-year-old Bidenwho looked shaky, looked sick, stumbled over his words, and at one point completely lost his train of thought.
60% of Americans now say Biden is “unfit to serve another term as president.” Only 24% say he is in good shape. The president’s fitness rating has only been this low once, in November 2023, and it has never been worse.
However, the survey of 1,754 US adults, carried out from June 28 to July 1, also shows that Biden (43%) remains statistically tied with Trump (45%), in a direct confrontation among registered voters – even after of a performance that appeared to substantiate long-standing concerns about the president’s age and future competence.
