An elated Sir Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria entered their new home at Number 10 for the first time yesterday – after promising to tear up planning regulations and rebuild Britain.

The triumphant Labor leader entered Downing Street after delivering a seven-minute address to the nation.

He will declare Britain open for business with a bonfire of planning regulations and a global investment effort to rebuild the nation.

And he will launch his premiership with an international diplomatic push next week and a call for businesses to support UK Plc.

He will present a series of policies in Labour’s first King’s Speech on 17 July – all aimed at reviving growth in a bid to avoid painful spending cuts.

But Sir Keir will arrive on the world stage first in NATO next Tuesday, before welcoming all European leaders to Britain for a major summit the following week.

Labour’s plan to “get to work” will be heavily focused on the planning system, which is seen as vital to building more homes.

Sir Keir and Lady Starmer were greeted by delighted supporters as they entered Downing Street following the Labor Party’s landslide victory at the polls.

The couple were seen hugging Victoria’s father, Bernard Alexander, as they entered their new home.

Sir Keir used his Downing Street speech yesterday to promise Britons would get on the property ladder for a better start in life. He promised that the country’s infrastructure will be built “brick by brick” as young people look for homes they can afford.

She said: “We looked in these elections for a mandate to grow the economy and that is what we are going to start doing.

“Reforming our planning system is clearly essential to building the housing we need, the transport infrastructure, the energy infrastructure.”

Reeves set a high standard for the role, telling officials, “I will consider my time in office a success if I know that at the end of it there are working-class children from ordinary backgrounds living richer lives, their horizons expanded.” , and its potential realized.”

The new Prime Minister will also use his role to strengthen the Union by embarking on a visit to his four home countries in the coming days.

This is expected to include a trip to Scotland to outline his domestic political priorities.

The timing of the election result will fall into Sir Keir’s hands as he is thrust onto the world stage in just a few days’ time – heading towards the NATO summit in Washington DC.

It will be the first opportunity to formally introduce the new prime minister and meet leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the event.

The meeting is also expected to allow him to hold talks with US President Joe Biden, and the trip will provide an opportunity to visit the White House.

Upon his return to Britain later this week, attention will turn to the King’s Speech on July 17, which will present the Government’s legislative program.

Measures included will be to bolster housing construction, workers’ rights, legislation to nationalize railways and establish state-owned GB Energy, in an effort to source more clean energy locally, including offshore wind.

Then, the following day, he will host the European Political Community summit at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Fifty leaders from across the continent will come together to try to deal with the challenge of the war in Ukraine and illegal migration routes.

Sir Keir will hold his first Cabinet meeting today, where he will outline his vision for his mission of national renewal.

The Labor leader formally knew he would be the next prime minister when Rishi Sunak made a phone call to concede defeat.

It is understood they had a short, respectful conversation while Sir Keir sat in the back seat of his chauffeur-driven Range Rover.

He was then taken to the Tate Modern, on the south bank of the River Thames, before heading to Downing Street.

Yesterday, the new Prime Minister named Partygate inquisitor Sue Gray his chief of staff and electoral chief Morgan McSweeney his director of strategy.

He received congratulatory calls from world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, who said: “We will continue the work started with the UK for our bilateral cooperation, for peace and security in Europe, for climate and for AI.” .

Ukraine’s Mr Zelensky described the UK as “reliable allies at all times”, wishing the new government “every success”.
