DDonald Trump said he has not yet made a final decision on who his vice presidential pick will be, but plans to make an announcement next week.
“It could even be during the convention that we would do this. I would love to do that during the convention,” Trump said in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News on Monday night, referring to the Republican National Convention that begins July 15 in Milwaukee.
“I think it would be a very interesting and important construction for the convention. This will make it even more exciting,” she added.

Trump said his running mate would be “a person who can do a fantastic job as president” as well as “someone who helps you get elected, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
He added that Senators JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum were under consideration, in response to a question from Hannity, who suggested these names.
The former president repeatedly prolonged the vice presidential selection process, which generated intrigue and speculation surrounding the decision. Last month, he told reporters that he had already decided who would be vice president but had not told that person.
Trump will have to make a decision next week, when delegates at the convention will officially nominate Trump and his yet-to-be-nominated running mate to the party’s presidential ticket.
Mike Pence, who served as vice president during Trump’s first term, refused to support his former boss. He sharply rebuked Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, where protesters called for Pence to be hanged.
