President Joe Biden is stopped under pressure to drop out of the race after him uneven performance at Thursday’s press conference. But he’s getting some support — and it’s coming from Trumpworld.

Former president donald trump is scheduled to face Biden in November, and it appears his family and campaign team are rooting for Biden to remain his opponent.

“I think he’s well enough to stay. The press, I think their mission was to try to get him out of it, but I don’t think they’re going to do that,” he said. Donald Trump Jr. said in a live broadcast on Thursday.

Trump’s eldest son gave his opinion on Biden’s candidacy in recent years episode from his podcast, “Trigered with Don Jr.” Notably, Trump Jr. praised Biden while hurling insults at him.

“I don’t think anyone wants to call this guy for an emergency at 3 a.m., but you know, he answered for an hour. It’s almost one o’clock,” Trump Jr. said.

“I think he did better than I really thought he would. I don’t think it was a great job, but I think it’s a big problem,” he said near the end of the podcast.

The Trump camp is eager for a 2020 rematch

Jonathan Swan of the New York Times reported on Thursday that people close to Trump are rejoicing over Biden’s decent performance at the press conference.

Swan wrote that Trump’s people believe it will now be harder for the Democratic Party to get Biden off the ticket — and they remain hopeful that Trump can secure a landslide victory if Biden remains his opponent.

Also on Thursday, Politico he spoke to a Trump adviser granted anonymity to discuss the campaign.

“The Democrats’ worst nightmare is unfolding,” the adviser told the outlet. “He has given us enough new material and can prevent their insurrection.”

The Trump campaign had already expressed its preference for Biden as a candidate even before Biden’s disastrous debate on June 27.

Trump campaign adviser Susie Wiles also called Biden a “gift” in a interview with Tim Alberta of The Atlantic in mid-June, which was published on Wednesday.

When approached for comment, a Trump spokesperson pointed to a clip of Trump speaking at a campaign event in Florida on Tuesday.

“Despite all the panic from the Democrats this week, the truth is it doesn’t matter who they nominate, because we will defeat any one of them in a landslide,” Trump said.

Biden has repeatedly insisted that he will not step away from his 2024 candidacy, but his party may not share the same zeal.

At least 16 House Democrats It is a Democratic senator asked Biden to drop out after his poor debate performance.

Others, like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, did not explicitly call for Biden’s impeachment, but stopped himself from endorsing him as the party’s candidate.

“It is up to the president to decide whether he will run. We all encourage him to make that decision. Because time is running out,” Pelosi said during a meeting. interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.

Biden representatives did not immediately respond to a BI request for comment sent outside normal business hours.
