JOE BIDEN does not have the capacity to be president of the United States for another four and a half years, his former deputy chief of staff said.

Dr. Jamie Metzl, who worked with Biden when he chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said it is time for the 81-year-old to “pass the torch.”

On Thursday, Biden made the terrible mistake of referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin”, the despot who terrorized the country for more than two years.

The painful gaffe came after a decisive multi-day session between NATO countries that focused extensively on the war in Ukraine.

Biden’s recent misstep is the latest in a series of setbacks which sparked criticism and calls for his resignation from prominent Democratic colleagues.

The founder and president of One Shared World and author of “Superconversions” recently discussed his views on Joe Biden’s recent speech and broader implications for the Democratic Party.

Despite his years-long admiration, Dr. Metzl expressed significant concern about Biden’s cognitive decline and ability to serve another term as president of the world’s most powerful nation.

He compared Biden’s current state to that of an elderly grandfather, suggesting it is time for Biden to “pass the torch” to a new generation of leaders.

Metzl told The Sun: “I know President Biden very well, I’ve worked closely with him and he’s someone I love and respect and I think he’s really done a fantastic job as president of the United States over the last three and a half years.

“It seems relatively clear that President Biden does not have the capacity to be President of the United States for another four and a half years.

“And this is not an insult to President Biden. It is just, unfortunately, a recognition of the ravages of age.

“We all saw the same thing with our parents and grandparents as they got older. And that’s what we’re seeing with President Biden.

“It’s really no insult, no disrespect to President Biden to say that it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation, and I certainly hope that President Biden very, very soon comes to that conclusion.”

Metzl is concerned that Biden’s continued candidacy could hurt the Democratic Party’s chances, especially in crucial election contests.

He believes that if Biden insists on running again, he will likely lose and take the Democratic Party with him.

This scenario could pave the way for a Donald Trump victory, which Dr. Metzl argues would be disastrous not only for American democracy, but also for the world.

He stressed that a Trump administration, along with Republican control of Congress and a politicized Supreme Court, could fundamentally threaten American democratic institutions.

Trump’s potential re-election, according to Dr. Metzl, would also undermine the very foundations of American democracy and international stability.

On the international stage, he highlighted the importance of the USA in maintaining global security and, for this, the country needs a strong and stable leader.

Metzl said: “If President Biden insists on being the Democratic nominee, he will bring the Democratic Party down with him.

“The Democratic Party needs to have the strongest possible candidate at the top of our ticket.

“If President Biden insists on remaining in race, he cannot win. And not only will he not be able to win, he will also drag out many important electoral disputes.

“If we have President Trump, with Republican control of the House and Senate, and a Supreme Court that appears to be doing President Trump’s bidding, I think American democracy will be fundamentally at risk.”

While recognizing Biden’s current capabilities and successes, particularly with regard to confronting Putin, supporting alliances and facing the challenges posed by China and WillDr. Metzl is skeptical about Biden’s ability to maintain this level of performance throughout the next four and a half years.

He says Biden’s decline is accelerating, raising serious concerns about his ability to handle the demands of the presidency in office. future.

He argued that it is unrealistic to expect Biden’s condition not to worsen, given the immense pressures of the presidency.

Metzl said: “Its decline is accelerating. It was the Biden campaign that fought the CNN debate, and they did so at a time when they thought he might be competitive.

“But between the time this debate was organized and when this debate was held, the president declined significantly.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Metzl advocates a “mini primary” to select the Democratic nominee rather than simply anointing Vice President Kamala Harris as Biden’s successor.

He believes an open and competitive process is essential to ensure the strongest candidate is chosen.

Dr. Metzl added that interested candidates must proceed through a rigorous vetting process, involving debates and town hall forums, to interact with the public and demonstrate their capabilities.

This approach, he argued, would allow the Democratic Party to put its best foot forward as it heads into the convention.

Dr. Metzl also emphasized the need for a candidate who is a coalition builder and can win in key battleground states, which are crucial to ensuring victory in the U.S. electoral system.

He suggests that the governors of these states could be strong candidates, but insists that the selection process must be democratic and inclusive.

The expert said: “I believe President Biden should announce that he will not accept the nomination.

“I also believe it would be a terrible mistake for the Democratic Party to simply try to anoint Kamala Harris as their successor.

“The Democratic Party is a coalition of many different people and many different groups of someone who needs to be a coalition builder, but also needs to be someone who can win in key battleground states because of the unique nature of our system.”

Despite his concerns, Dr. Metzl makes it clear that he would still vote for Biden or Harris if they were the nominee, given their strong opposition to Trump.

Ultimately, his call for new leadership reflects his deep concern for the future of American democracy and global security.

Dr. Jamie Metzl is one of many experts who have insisted that time is up for clumsy leader – now famous for his painful public slip-ups.

Former British Army colonel Richard Kemp told The Sun that Biden needs to be replaced in office immediately as he represents a “danger to the free world”.

He said: “He is not fit to lead the greatest superpower in the world, perhaps the only superpower in the world.”

Alan Mendoza, director of the transatlantic foreign policy and security think tank The Henry Jackson Society, agrees that Biden poses a serious risk to the West.

He told The Sun that the 81-year-old president had failed to dispel doubts about his mental capacity at the summit and it was a disgrace.

Alan said: “It’s embarrassing, I think, because this kind of gaffe, public, in front of the eyes of the world, is not what you would expect a president to do.”

Richard told The Sun that Biden’s performance this week would have been “very, deeply worrying for many NATO members”.

He said: “Confusing Zelensky with Putin is the worst thing he could do.

“It’s very, very offensive, obviously, unintentionally offensive, but still… The President of the United States cannot afford to make unintentional insults like that.”
