Trump rally security
Donald Trump was reportedly shot at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 13.
There were 8 to 10 metal detectors at the Butler Farm Grounds, according to former USUN Ambassador Kip Tom.
The land can accommodate tens of thousands of people.
Tom told CNN that anyone within a certain distance of the president was required to go through these metal detectors.
Despite being held at an open fairgrounds, the rally was fenced, meaning a perimeter was set up.
In addition to metal detectors for the public, in addition to local and state police, the Secret Service is assigned to protect the president.
Secret Service agents immediately jumped to cover Trump after he appeared to have been shot.
“We practiced thousands of times for these situations,” Jonathan Wackrow, a former agent, told CNN.
CNN also reported that the Secret Service shot and killed the alleged shooter.
The Secret Service is leading the investigation at this time.
The FBI will take over the broader investigation, working in conjunction with the Secret Service.
“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement agencies for their quick response to the shooting that just occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania,” he wrote.
“Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person who died at the rally and also to the family of another person who was seriously injured.
“It is incredible that such an act could happen in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is dead.
“I was hit by a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately something was wrong as I heard a buzzing sound, gunshots and immediately felt the bullet tearing through the skin.
“There was a lot of bleeding, then I realized what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
