Armed police officers patrol the city as Trump and other high-ranking Republicans arrive at the convention.

State troopers from New Jersey, Oklahoma and Wisconsin arrived in Milwaukee to increase the security presence at the RNC.

Security is also tight inside the convention, with security officers performing thorough bag checks throughout the perimeter.

Attendees also shared with The US Sun that their Ubers were searched before entering the convention.

Police dogs are checking participants’ cars, making sure no stone is left unturned ahead of the historic night.

Trump is expected to take the stage at the RNC around 4:30 pm EST to address his supporters and announce his running mate.

He would have already selected his vice-presidential running mate and the candidate is present today.

Senator JD Vance was spotted leaving his home in Ohio this morning to attend the convention.

He was photographed leaving his home in a motorcade alongside his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, at around 10am EST.

Vance is on Trump’s vice presidential candidate list, which also includes Senators Marco Rubio, Doug Burgum and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

A source told Fox News that Burgum and Rubio did not receive a call to be Trump’s running mate.

Other attendees expected to grace the RNC are former presidential candidate Nikki Haley, Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.

SAFETY CONCERNS

Concerns for the former president’s safety arose after an assassination attempt took place at a campaign rally on Saturday.

Donald Trump rally security

Donald Trump was reportedly shot at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13.

Trump’s rally was held at the Butler Farm Grounds, which can accommodate tens of thousands of people.

There were 8 to 10 metal detectors on site, according to former USUN ambassador Kip Tom.

Tom told CNN that anyone within a certain distance of the president was required to go through these metal detectors.

Despite being held at an open fairgrounds, the rally was fenced, meaning a perimeter was set up.

Secret Service countersnipers were stationed in the area to monitor the perimeter.

In addition to metal detectors for the public, in addition to local and state police, the Secret Service is assigned to protect the president.

Secret Service agents immediately jumped to cover Trump after he appeared to have been shot.

“We practiced thousands of times for these situations,” Jonathan Wackrow, a former agent, told CNN.

CNN also reported that the Secret Service shot and killed the alleged shooter.

The FBI took over the broader investigation of the shooting, working closely with the Secret Service.

Trump was addressing supporters at a rally in Pennsylvania when a gunman, later identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired shots.

A bullet grazed Trump’s ear and he fell to the ground at the podium.

The Secret Service then rushed to the stage to escort Trump off the stage and take him to safety.

A US Secret Service spokesperson said CNN that the agency did not sweep the building where Crooks was perched when he fired.

The agency added that the building was supposed to be monitored by local authorities and it was unclear how the gunman gained access to the roof during the rally.

The FBI is now leading the investigation into the assassination attempt and the Secret Service is cooperating.

The assassination attempt has heightened concerns about Trump’s safety tonight.
