David Warrington, general counsel for the Trump campaign, said Harris was initiating a “brazen money grab” using money raised by President Biden’s campaign.

Warrington called the measure “the largest overcontribution and largest violation in the history of federal election campaigning.”

Biden committed $91.5 million to Harris’ campaign after announcing he was suspending his re-election bid.

Harris kept the same campaign team and the team pivoted its social media presence to focus on her rather than Biden.

IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY

The articles of impeachment, introduced by Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles accuses the vice president of committing high crimes and misdemeanors.

The articles accuse Harris of lying to the American public about Biden’s health and his refusal to comply with immigration laws, according to Political.

In one of the articles, Ogles argues that Harris “demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of his duties and responsibilities” in his handling of the US-Mexico border.

The GOP official claims that Harris “displayed a total refusal to defend existing immigration laws” as “border czar.”

The second article of impeachment accuses Harris of “breach of public trust,” alleging that the vice president knowingly misled the public about President Biden’s physical and cognitive health.

The first article on immigration was filed on June 12, 2023. The project is still in committee and has not yet been presented in the Chamber.

The articles referred to Harris as a “border czar” and listed crimes committed by illegal immigrants as evidence of her impeachment.

The second article was filed on July 23 and Ogles claims that Harris did not invoke the 25th Amendment after President Biden announced he would suspend his re-election campaign.

Ogles wrote on X after the proceedings: “VP Harris betrayed the trust of the American people, which is one of the reasons I introduced articles of impeachment for her today.”

The impeachment articles have already started divisions between Republicans and Democrats, with Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) criticizing the X articles.

Articles of Impeachment Summarized

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris over her handling of the immigration crisis and decision not to invoke the 25th Amendment. The articles are as follows,

Article I: Willful refusal to uphold immigration laws

  • Ogles argued that the Constitution allows presidents and vice presidents to be impeached if they are convicted of “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”
  • Ogles claimed that Harris “intentionally and systematically refused to uphold federal immigration laws.”
  • He added that Harris demonstrated “extraordinary incompetence” and a “complete refusal to uphold existing immigration laws.”
  • Ogles cited crimes committed by illegal immigrants, including the murders of Rachel Morin and Laken Riley, as evidence of Harris’ “incompetence.”
  • He cited data from U.S. Customs and Borders, citing that 106,000 pounds of drugs had been seized at the southern border in early 2023.

Article II: Breach of public trust

  • Ogles argued that Harris “misled the people of the United States” about President Biden’s health.
  • He claimed that Biden and Harris “engaged in a conduct scheme.”
  • Ogles said Harris should have invoked the 25th Amendment after Biden suspended his re-election campaign.
  • He argued that Harris “refused to answer any questions about President Joe Biden’s tragic cognitive decline.”

“Any House Republicans who support this nonsense are showing the American people that they are not serious legislators,” he wrote.

“It is also becoming increasingly evident that Congressional Republicans are afraid of @VP.”

Ogles responded to Nadler: “No, the American people are and should be afraid of Kamala Harris.

“As Border Czar, she allowed hundreds of thousands of drug overdose deaths, the rape of thousands of innocent women and children, and murders in the streets.”

Even if the articles of impeachment are approved Republicancontrolled Chamber of Deputies, it is doubtful that they will be confirmed by the Senatewhere Democrats holds the majority.

KAMALA KICK STARTS CAMPAIGN

The articles of impeachment were introduced hours after Harris began her presidential campaign in the battleground state of Wisconsin.

During her speech, Harris again took aim at the former president donald trumptelling supporters, “I know his type,” referring to her time as attorney general in California.

She alluded to Trump’s criminal convictions and that he was found responsible for sexual abuse.

The crowd roared after his statement and shouted, “Lock him up!”

Harris also outlined her campaign’s key policy issues, which echoed the same priorities as the Biden administration.

Trump criticized Harris for using Biden’s policies and challenged her to a debate during a call with reporters.

Full statement from Vice President Kamala Harris as Biden drops out of 2024 race and endorses her

“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country. His remarkable legacy of accomplishments is unparalleled in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many two-term presidents.

“It is a great honor to serve as your vice president and I am deeply grateful to President Dr. Biden and the entire Biden family. I first met President Biden through his son Beau. We were friends from the time we worked together as attorneys general in our home states. As we worked together, Beau told me stories about his father. The kind of father – and the kind of man – he was. And the qualities that Beau revered in his father are the same qualities, the same values that I have seen every day in Joe’s leadership as president: his honesty and integrity. His big heart and commitment to his faith and his family. And his love for our country and the American people.

“With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above all else.

“I am honored to have the president’s endorsement and my intention is to achieve and win this nomination. Over the past year, I’ve traveled across the country, talking to Americans about the clear choice in this important election. And that is what I will continue to do in the coming days and weeks. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party – and unite our nation – to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.

“We have 107 days until election day. Together, we will fight. And together we will win.”

“I didn’t agree to anything. I agreed to a debate with Joe Biden,” Trump said on the call.

“But I want to debate with her, and it will be no different with her, because they have the same policies.

“I think debating is important for a presidential race, I really do, you kind of have an obligation to debate.”

Biden also reiterated that Harris’ mission is similar to his own during a campaign meeting.

He called the meeting from his home in Delaware and told the team, “I think we made the right decision.”

“The name changed at the top of the ticket, but the mission didn’t change at all.”
