A LEAKED video appears to show that Kamala Harris has chosen Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate for the 2024 election.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker sparked chaos by sharing a video apparently endorsing the choice on social media ahead of the decision, which was expected to be announced in the coming days.

It’s unclear whether the video, which is still shared on Instagram, encouraged Harris to choose Shapiro as her vice president or actually revealed the decision.

“I can’t think of a better partner than our governor Josh Shapiro,” Parker said on video – but it was more direct in the post’s caption.

“Proud to stand alongside so many leaders for @kamalaharris for President and @joshshapiropa for Vice President!” said the caption.

“We are One CITY, One REGION and One United COMMUNITY!”

A source said The Inquisitor that the mayor was simply showing her support for Shapiro, which she also did earlier this week at a rally in Philadelphia.

“This is not an advertisement for anything. This is just the mayor showing her support for a longtime friend who we know is one of the people being considered,” the outlet reported.

However, journalist Ernest Owens claims that the video was scheduled for Monday and that the mayor’s team is trying to make up for the big mistake.

“The video was scheduled for Monday… after Vice President Kamala Harris was supposed to announce her pick,” he said. claimed in X.

Owens also reported that the post caused a “firestorm” in the mayor’s office after the video was “accidentally posted” by an employee.

The US Sun has reached out to Parker’s office for comment.

Instagram users are sharing their shock at the apparent error in the post’s comments.

“The cat is out of the bag, I think! Thanks for the heads up, Parker,” wrote one.

“Spoiler alert!” another joked.

“Ummm. Shouldn’t Kamala announce this?” another added, echoing the confusion of many.

VETATION CONTROVERSY

Shapiro, who was sworn in as governor of Pennsylvania in January 2023, is on Harris’ list of vice presidential picks as she is expected to reveal her running mate next week ahead of the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 19.

More, NBC News reported that the governor met with Harris’ vetting team on Wednesday, leading to even more speculation that he was the right man for the job.

However, Shapiro was criticized just days ago for an alleged sexual harassment cover-up.

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania treasurer nominee Erin McClelland shared a post about X accusing the governor of sexism and insinuating that he could not work effectively for a high-ranking woman.

“I want a choice for vice president who is safe enough to be second to a woman, who is content to be vice president and who does not harm the president in maneuvering his own election and who does not sweep sexual harassment under the bus. of the carpet. to rural voters,” she wrote.

McClelland then supported North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.

Shapiro’s office reportedly reached a settlement with an aide who accused his top legislative contact, Mike Vereb, of sexual harassment, The Philadelphia Inquisitor reported.

The settlement was for $295,000 and Vereb did not resign from his position until months after the complaint was filed.

Kamala Harris’ potential running mates

Kamala Harris accepted Joe Biden’s endorsement for the Democratic presidential nomination after the president ended his re-election bid on July 21.

Harris said he plans to win and win the Democratic nomination while uniting the party.

Who are Kamala Harris’ potential running mates?

  • Pete Buttigieg: U.S. Secretary of Transportation Buttigieg ran for president during the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, competing against Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.
  • He was widely considered a breakout star, becoming the first openly gay candidate to win a presidential primary or caucus when he narrowly won the Iowa caucus during the 2020 primaries.
  • Buttigieg was one of the first Democrats to formally endorse Kamala Harris after President Biden.
  • In his statement, Buttigieg said Harris was “the right person to take up the torch, defeat Donald Trump and succeed Joe Biden as president.”
  • Andy Beshear: Governor Beshear has carved out a successful career in the heavily Republican state of Kentucky.
  • The 46-year-old two-term governor fully supported Harris for president and said he would consider being her running mate.
  • Gretchen Whitmer: Michigan Governor Whitmer is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party.
  • In 2020, the two-term governor caught Joe Biden’s eye as a possible running mate before ultimately choosing Harris.
  • Whitmer joined the growing list of Democrats who have supported Harris for president.
  • A Harris-Whitmer campaign would be the first female candidate for a U.S. political party.
  • Gavin Newsom: Prominent California Governor Newsom’s name has long been associated with a potential presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
  • Newsom has already endorsed Harris for president, saying, “No one is better at prosecuting the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision.”
  • But there could be a problem if Harris and Newsom are in the same position.
  • Both Newsom and Harris come from Californiaand according to the 12th Amendment to the Constitution, both members of a presidential ticket “shall not be inhabitants of the same state.”
  • If Harris chose Newsom as her running mate, they would lose all 54 of California’s Electoral College votes.
  • Josh Shapiro: Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, is a rising star in the Democratic Party establishment.
  • His shares soared after achieving victory in the state’s 2022 gubernatorial election, defeating Republican rival Doug Mastriano.
  • Shapiro’s margin of victory was greater than Joe Biden’s when he defeated Donald Trump in 2020.
  • Pennsylvania is one of the swing states that Trump is trying to win.
  • Trump allies said NBC News that they think Shapiro would be a super strong running mate for Harris.
  • Marco Kelly: Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, 60, is also named as a front-runner.
  • He has significant military experience, having been a Navy combat pilot and a former astronaut.
  • Harris’ allies believe he could help win over working-class voters and also keep Arizona.
  • Arizona is one of the Sun Belt states the Trump campaign is targeting.

“I want a choice for vice president who is safe enough to be second to a woman, who is content to be vice president and who does not harm the president in maneuvering his own election and who does not sweep sexual harassment under the bus. of the carpet,” McClelland criticized Shapiro.

Various points of sale, including The Philadelphia Inquisitor reported that McClelland was referring to Shapiro’s legislative affairs secretary, who made headlines last year for a sexual harassment scandal.

A female employee accused Mike Vereb, Shapiro’s longtime legislative aide, of making lewd comments and unwanted sexual advances that created a hostile work environment last summer.

Vereb was eventually punished — but only after the accuser left her position and filed an official complaint with the state, according to legal documents reviewed by The Inquisitor.

Following the state’s investigation, Shapiro’s office signed a $295,000 settlement agreement on September 5 to quietly end the investigation.

The settlement allowed the inquiry to conclude without any formal admission of guilt or wrongdoing by Vereb or Shapiro’s office.

A spokesperson for Shapiro said in a statement that the terms of the settlement reached in the case

A spokesman for Shapiro said in a statement that the terms of the settlement prevented the government from commenting.

Prior to the allegations, a poll conducted by The US Sun showed that Americans named Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly as the favorites to pick Harris.
