Carter battled metastatic brain cancer and liver cancer and had several other health issues before entering hospice, one of which required brain surgery.

In a health update released in May by his grandson Jason Carter, the 39th president’s life is “coming to an end.”

However, the one-term president hopes to participate in the November elections, when he will turn 100 years old.

The Democrat will celebrate his centenary on October 1st.

“I’m just trying to vote for Kamala Harris,” Carter told his son Chip, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported after an argument with Carter’s grandson.

The former president is “more alert and interested in politics and the war in Gaza”, revealed his grandson.

Carter’s presidency came to an end in 1981, with Republican candidate Ronald Reagan taking the helm.

Now, despite his health, the former president wants to help defeat Republicans this fall, and the early voting system could help.

Early voting begins in Georgia on October 15, just two weeks after Carter’s 100th birthday.

Carter was in the White House from 1977 to 1981 and fiercely advocated for human rights and mental health reform alongside his wife, Rosalynn Carter, of 77 years.

The former first lady died at age 96, just days after Carter was admitted to hospice, but the two had a touching final moment together.

Carter was photographed at his wife’s memorial service, during which his daughter, Amy, read her father’s love letter to his wife from his time in the Navy.

The Carter administration was famous for establishing the Department of Education and the Department of Energy.

Carter also pardoned those who dodged the draft in the Vietnam War.

The former president’s comments come after a chaotic month in politics.

Jimmy Carter’s political career

Jimmy Carter served the United States from 1977 to 1981 as the 39th commander in chief.

Carter was elected in 1976 and served one term for the Democrats.

One of the main issues for the government was America’s energy crisis.

He also had to deal with the Iran hostage crisis, in which 52 Americans were detained for more than 400 days. They were not released until Reagan took office in 1981.

Carter is best known for successfully securing the Camp David Accords, the Panama Canal Treaties, and the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks.

He also created the Department of Energy and the Department of Education.

Before becoming president, he was a Georgia state senator from 1963 to 1967, after supporting the civil rights movement and joining the Democratic Party as an activist.

He then became Georgia’s 76th governor between 1971 and 1975.

Before his political career, Carter served in the United States Navy and upon his return he worked in his family’s peanut business.

In the space of just 10 days, there was an assassination attempt, repeated calls for the incumbent president to resign, and Harris was announced as the new Democratic candidate for the November election.

Meanwhile, speculation continues about who Harris will choose as her running mate after a leaked video shows that Gov. Josh Shapiro was chosen.

However, it is unclear whether the video encourages the presidential candidate to choose Shapiro or reveals whether she has already made the decision.

Come as…

Until there is official confirmation, there are a number of potential picks Harris could choose from, but she only has until August 7th to do so.

Meanwhile, his rival, Donald Trump, announced a Fox News debate with the Democrat after refusing to debate her on ABC due to an alleged “conflict of interest.”

The supposed debate has not been confirmed by Fox or Harris.
