There is speculation that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is Kamala Harris’ running mate, as many clues point to the upcoming announcement.

Several signs have suggested that Shapiro could be the potential vice president — including a leaked video of the Philadelphia mayor that appeared to announce him as the pick last week.

Mayor Cherelle Parker’s campaign video sparked chaos when the mayor appeared to name Shapiro as Harris’ vice presidential pick.

“I can’t think of a better partner than our governor, Josh Shapiro,” Parker said in the clip.

It is unclear whether the video, which remains posted, was intended as a formal announcement of the decision or whether the mayor was merely endorsing Shapiro in the choice.

Harris’ campaign has not addressed the announcement.

Shapiro is reportedly on Harris’ list for vice president, along with Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

The governor further fueled speculation by canceling three fundraisers scheduled for this weekend.

“The governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee,” his press secretary said in a statement to The Associated Press.

“His schedule has changed and he will no longer be traveling to the Hamptons this weekend.”

Michael Kempner, a member of President Joe Biden’s national finance committee, addressed the speculation by announcing that one of the fundraisers had been postponed.

“Many speculate that this is a sign that he will be vice president,” he wrote in a note to guests at the event, according to the local ABC affiliate. WHTM-TV.

“Although this has not been confirmed, I continue to believe he is the best person for the job. And I hope the speculation is true,” Kempner said.

“As I learn more and get a new date for an event, I will keep you updated. There will also be many other events to support Kamala, I will send you that information soon. I hope you participate.”

The canceled events come as Harris reportedly met with Shapiro, Kelly and Walz at her home on Sunday, according to The New York Times.

Only the fact that Shapiro is governor of Pennsylvania may indicate the decision.

10 days that changed America

AN assassination attempt on a former US president, the impeachment of a current president and a political speech by a former fighter. Senior news reporter Anthony Blair looks back at 10 wild days of American politics.

  • Saturday, July 13th – Donald Trump is shot during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Republican leader is hit in the ear, but gets up and punches the crowd. Shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, is shot dead, but the Secret Service is criticized for suspected security errors. Former fire chief Corey Compatore is killed protecting his family.
  • Sunday, July 14th – President Joe Biden calls on Americans to unite and “cool down” the political rhetoric in the wake of Trump’s shooting. The Democrat has faced growing calls since his disastrous CNN debate performance in June. Shocking video reveals how close Trump came to being killed after turning his head at the last minute.
  • Monday, July 15th – The Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Trump is formally nominated as the Republican nominee. An emotional-looking Trump makes his first appearance since surviving the shooting wearing a large bandage around his ear. It quickly becomes a must-have fashion item at the RNC. Ohio Senator JD Vance is named Trump’s running mate. Previously anti-Trump, Vance, just 39, is an inexperienced pick but seen as having a connection with ordinary Americans. In an interview, Biden admits that it was a “mistake” to talk about putting Trump on the “target” days before the assassination attempt.
  • Tuesday, July 16th – FBI warns of more potential violence after Trump shooting. Intelligence claims Iran had a separate plan to assassinate Trump, but there is no proven link to bad guys. Biden returns to the campaign trail for the first time since the assassination attempt and insists he will not resign.
  • Wednesday, July 17th – Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid, just days after saying he would drop out of the presidential race if he were diagnosed with a health problem. That intensifies calls for him to step aside, with Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom considered potential replacements. At the RNC, JD Vance gives his first speech since being chosen as Trump’s vice president, to the delight of the MAGA audience.
  • Thursday, July 18th – Donald Trump addresses the RNC, his first speech since surviving an assassination attempt. He appears slower and more measured than usual, but delivers the longest convention acceptance speech in U.S. history. Just before continuing, former wrestler Hulk Hogan rips off his shirt and tells the crowd that “Trumpomania” will sweep America. Former first lady Melania, who was barely seen during the campaign, appears but does not speak. Barack Obama joins calls for Biden to step aside.
  • Friday, July 19th – President Biden appears to be considering resigning as a source said he is in a “contemplative stage” while isolating with Covid. Video emerges showing Biden appearing to lean on the wrong woman after mistaking her for his wife Jill. Meanwhile, the world’s largest technology outage causes travel chaos for Republicans leaving the RNC in Milwaukee.
  • Saturday, July 20th – Donald Trump holds his first campaign rally since the Butler shooting. He shows up in Michigan without the bandage on his ear. His former doctor Ronny Jackson describes his injuries. He appears in his first interview alongside his running mate Vance. Senior Democrat Nancy Pelosi speaks for the first time since she was linked to growing calls for Biden to resign. Meanwhile, Biden’s re-election campaign continues to insist he is running, while a spokesperson criticizes Trump’s comments at the rally as showing he is “only focused on himself.”
  • Sunday, July 21st – Joe Biden announces he will not run in November in a shocking letter, just hours after insisting he would remain in the race. He is the first incumbent to resign in his first term since 1968. Biden endorses Kamala Harris for president as a senior Democrat through his support for the vice president. The news appears to unbalance Republicans. Biden promises to continue his term until the November elections.
  • Monday, July 22nd – Kamala Harris raises a record $81 million in 24 hours as she secures the Democratic nomination. She also inherits about $91 million in Biden’s remaining campaign funds. Harris delivers her first speech since Biden left office and speaks with the president on the phone, although he will not appear in person. Under-pressure Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle appears on Capitol Hill and faces growing calls to resign over Trump’s assassination. She admits that the Secret Service “failed” on July 13 and resigns the next day.

Pennsylvania is a swing state that Harris will likely have to win to become the 47th president, meaning Shapiro, as her running mate, could help her protect the state in the race against former President Donald Trump.

‘MAY COME’

Shapiro also sparked speculation by responding to Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, who insulted the Democrat while speaking on a podcast.

“Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania, who, you know, I saw some clips of him speaking,” Vance said on the Full Send Podcast on Friday.

“He talks like Barack Obama,” Vance compared him to the former president.

“It’s like if I really tried to make a bad impression on Barack Obama, that’s what it would sound like.”

While signing a funding bill at Cheney University on Friday, Shapiro responded to reporters asking for comment on Vance’s comments.

“If he wants to hurl insults my way, which I’m not even sure is an insult, let him do it. You can do that,” Shapiro said.

“I’m ready for anything JD Vance throws my way.”

KELLY’S DELETED TWEET

Signs could also point to Shapiro after Sen. Kelly appeared to exit Harris’ vice presidential race in a cryptic post that has since been deleted.

“My background is a little different than most politicians,” the post said.

“I spent my life in the Navy and NASA, where the mission always comes first. Now my mission is to serve Arizonans.”

It happens like:

The post was taken down and replaced with another vague statement.

“Whether it was during my time in the Navy and NASA, serving in the United States Senate, or visiting our troops overseas: I learned that when your country asks you to serve, you always answer the call,” Kelly shared in the second X publish.

Harris is expected to announce her running mate any time before the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 19.
