White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Jean-Pierre is likely to be asked about the new Democratic presidential ticket after Vice President Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) as his running mate.
The possibility of a wider war in the Middle East, and an Iranian attack on Israel, is also almost certain to arise following the assassination in Tehran last week of a senior Hamas leader.
The Oval Office and the Pentagon also grapple with how best to calm tensions in the region to avoid an all-out war launched by Iran and its allies against Israel.
Tuesday’s briefing is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm EDT.
