Former President Trump, during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort, said Thursday that he has agreed to three separate debates on three different networks against his new opponent, Vice President Harris.

Trump scheduled the news conference as his campaign seeks to make Harris’ access to the media a campaign issue. Trump had already said he would not participate in a scheduled debate on ABC, initially scheduled for September 10, between himself and President Biden.

But ABC, in a statement during Trump’s news conference, said both he and Harris had agreed to a debate on September 10.

The former president also said on Thursday that he proposed debates with Fox News on September 4th and with NBC on September 25th.

“We talked to the heads of the network and everything has been confirmed except a few small details,” including whether the Harris campaign agrees to any of those dates, Trump said.

“I’m looking forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight,” Trump said.

Harris’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The former president cited ongoing litigation against ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos as the reason he did not attend an ABC event, even though he accepted the network as a host after filing the lawsuit.

Harris’ team criticized Trump for pulling out of the ABC News debate and said the vice president intends to use this time to appear on the network, regardless of whether he attends or not.

In recent weeks, Trump had increasingly shied away from debating Harris, initially saying he would “absolutely” take on the vice president but later saying he could think of reasons not to.
