Fox News reporter Peter Doocy clashed with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday over Vice President Harris’ beliefs about President Biden’s border policy.

Doocy asked Jean-Pierre about Harris’ commitment to hiring more border agents, concluding that the vice president must disagree with Biden’s approach to the southern border.

“How long have you known that Vice President Harris doesn’t think President Biden is effective with his border?” Doocy asked.

Jean-Pierre dismissed the question, rejecting any idea that there is such a political difference in the White House.

“I mean, you’re taking a big leap there. She didn’t say that. This is something you are taking on. I don’t understand why you would assume that. It’s not true,” replied Jean-Pierre.

“We really believe that,” she continued after Doocy asked again. “The president wants more Border Patrol agents. Do you know who’s getting in the way, do you know who’s getting in the way? Republicans in Congress are getting in the way. Do you know who else is getting in the way? Former President Donald Trump is getting in the way.”

Republicans tried to target Harris on border policy because of her role in the administration managing the big issues of immigration, including diplomacy with Central and South American countries. Harris never oversaw day-to-day border policy nor had the title “ border czar.”

Jean-Pierre’s comments pointed to the Republican Party’s rejection of a bipartisan border bill earlier this year that would have strengthened border security. Trump opposed the plan.

“There is no daylight here. I am not understanding the question because there is no daylight,” she added. “The president also believes this and has worked to achieve this.”

“There is a bipartisan agreement — I know you’re probably going to get tired of me saying this — but there was a bipartisan agreement that was on the table that the president worked on for a few months with the Senate Republicans and the Democrats,” she continued. . “They were told by the former president not to move forward because it would help Joe Biden. That’s their decision.”
