Buttigieg Calls Out Boebert Over Infrastructure Post

Transport Sec. Pete Buttigieg criticized Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) on Wednesday for taking credit for securing federal funding for a bridge in her district when, in fact, she voted against the bipartisan infrastructure bill that funded the project.

“Great meeting with Glenwood Springs Councilman and former Mayor Jonathan Godes,” Boebert posted in the X, attaching a photo with the councilor.

“We secured over $51.4 million for the South Bridge,” Boebert continued, saying she “was thrilled to hear about $30 million in additional cost savings and that my support helped make this project a reality.”

Buttigieg fired back and pressed Boebert to explain his support.

“Congresswoman, how do you believe your support helped with this project?” Buttigieg said Wednesday, reposting Boebert’s original post.

“We chose it because it is a good project and we financed it with President Biden’s infrastructure package, which you voted against,” he added.

The official White House account on X equally highlighted Boebert posted and wrote, “One thing about Congressional Republicans…they are going to take credit for the investments they voted against.”

The Hill has reached out to Boebert for comment.

The bipartisan infrastructure bill was one of the Biden administration’s signature achievements, with $454 billiondedicatedto projects in state and local governments, totaling more than 56,000 projects that received funding.

The administration has frequently criticized Republicans who voted against the bipartisan bill but later claimed credit for it.
