Vice President Harris should blame former President Trump for the downfall of Roe v. Wade. Wade on Monday, the anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court ruling that struck down the federal right to access abortion.
Harris will travel to Maryland for a campaign event on the two-year anniversary of Dobbs v. Wade. Jackson Women’s Health Organization of the Supreme Court, which returned the abortion issue to the states. The Biden-Harris campaign announced the event on Wednesday.
“The vice president will remind voters that Donald Trump is responsible for overturning Roe and the chaos that followed, and will highlight the threat a second Trump presidency would pose to reproductive freedom across the country,” the campaign wrote in a statement.
Harris has been the Biden administration’s leading voice defending reproductive rights after Roe was overturned and has crisscrossed the country to meet with abortion advocates.
The vice president began a “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour in January that focuses on efforts to protect reproductive rights after dozens of states enacted laws limiting access to abortion over the past two years.
During her tour and other campaign events, Harris often places the blame squarely on Trump for the restrictive laws after Roe.
In Arizona in April, she argued that Trump is “whitewashing” abortion and warned against another Trump term.
