President Biden and Donald Trump are facing off in their first televised debate of the 2024 campaign in Atlanta, which will be presented on CNN at 9 p.m. ET.

The stakes are high for both men. Trump maintains a narrow lead over Biden nationally, 45% to 44%, according to a set of polls from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill.

Biden has been dogged by concerns related to his age, as well as the high cost of living and his administration’s handling of wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Trump is grappling with the fallout from his conviction in a secret trial in New York, multiple federal charges and scrutiny over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

At the same time, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent who did not qualify for the debate stage, is holding his own event. To read how to watch RFK Jr.’s debate response here.
