Democratic anxieties and divisions over President Biden’s future at the top of the ticket in November are taking center stage Tuesday as House and Senate Democrats hold separate meetings focused on the viability of his candidacy.

Biden’s disastrous debate performance against former President Trump last month sparked widespread alarm among Democrats. And although Democratic leaders in both chambers reiterated their support for the president on Monday, opposition to his candidacy appears to be growing among the grassroots.

Tuesday’s meetings could be crucial to Biden’s future in the party.
