Elon Musk, head of the Trump government’s government efficiency department (Doge), released a table on Tuesday showing that the education department made the greatest “efficient progress.”
“The league table of which US government departments have made more or less progress with efficiency,” Musk said in a post on the social platform he has.
The top five government agencies that Musk said have made more progress are the Department of Education, the General Services Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Labor Department and the People Management Office.
Doge claims the total of saving US $ 65 billion in “A combination of detection/exclusion of fraud, contract/lease cancellations, contracted/lease renegotiations, asset sales, concession cancellations, workforce reductions, programmatic changes and regulatory economies. ”
One of the largest contracts for the Department of Education that was canceled, according to the list, went to the American Research Institute and was focused on the “effectiveness of transition supports for young people with disabilities served under the education law of individuals with disabilities ( Idea). ”
The list occurs when a judge recently decided to lose access to some of the education department servers that have student sensitive information.
Doge released for weeks changes made in the department, with the largest number of contracts canceled at the Institute of Education Sciences, with lawyers rejecting risks to teachers and students.
The Department of Education has probably been a major target of Doge due to President Trump’s desire to see the department completely eliminated one day.
