Harris and Vice President Choose to Launch Swinging State Tour in Philadelphia

Vice President Harris and her running mate will travel to seven key states, starting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, next week, according to her campaign.

After Philadelphia, the two will travel to western Wisconsin, followed by Detroit, Michigan, and Raleigh, North Carolina. Later in the week, they will travel to Savannah, Georgia, Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Harris and her future running mate “will crisscross the country together to campaign for the voters who will decide this election.”

Harris said Tuesday that she has not yet made a decision on a running mate but is expected to do so before next Wednesday.

Its focus on swing states emerges as aBloomberg News/Morning Consult Surveyshowed that she erased former President Trump’s lead in these rates. The poll found that 48 percent of swing state voters said they supported Harris and 47 percent said they supported Trump.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) said it expects her to choose her running mate before August 7. She will officially become the nominee as soon as Thursday, when Democrats move forward with a virtual roll call vote.

Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro (Pa.) and Sen. Mark Kelly (Ariz.) were considered possible Harris running mates, while others like Gov. Tim Walz (Minn.), Gov. Andy Beshear (Ky.) and Transportation O Secretary Pete Buttigieg emerged as the leading candidate.
