Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are not immune to the allure of pop star Taylor Swift, especially on album release days. Politicians in Washington took to social media on Friday to praise the star after she released her latest album.

Swift’s new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” was released on Friday, giving fans — including some lawmakers — new lyrics to memorize and melodies to sing.

“I received votes in the morning. I sleep or I listen,” Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Florida). posted on social platform on Friday morning, apparently referring to Swift’s new song.

Frost’s post came around the same time Swift revealed the album had a second part at 2 a.m. EDT on Friday.

“Congratulations @taylorswift13 on the release of the Department of Tortured Poets,” Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) posted in X. “I can’t wait to hear it.”

Casey’s post also featured a photo of a handwritten note in which he referenced Swift referring to herself as “The President of the Department of Tortured Poets” during the album’s promotion.

“From one president to another, congratulations,” says the note.

Lawmakers weren’t the only ones on Capitol Hill who were enamored with the singer’s new album — federal department heads like Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su were also excited.

Su appeared to make a joke in response to one of Swift’s posts about the release of “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“Is this department unionized?” Su said in a post in X.

Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) posted a photo of an X-shaped friendship bracelet similar to those often made and worn by Swift fans during the Eras Tour. The bracelet says: “DIGNITY OF WORK”.

“Hey @taylorswift13 I heard those friendship bracelets never go out of style. Neither does our fight for the dignity of work,” Brown said in his Friday post.

The Hill reached out to Frost’s office.
