The D.C. Court of Appeals has temporarily suspended the legal license of former President Trump’s lawyer, following a similar order made in late March by a California State Bar.

Former Trump lawyer John Eastman’s license is suspended in D.C. pending a final ruling in the California court cases, D.C. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby said in a statement. order filed on Friday.

A California judge in late March recommended Eastman’s expulsion due to his “false and misleading statements” regarding his 2020 election fraud claims and role in “provoking” the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. State Bar Judge Yvette Roland also recommended he pay $10,000 in monetary sanctions.

This week, Roland rejected Eastman’s request to remove the suspension of his license, saying Wednesday that he was unable to prove he is not a “threat to the public.”

The California Supreme Court will make a ruling on the case, which Eastman, a former dean of Chapman Law School, could appeal.

Roland, the California judge, found him guilty of 10 charges filed in California last year.

Eastman faces charges in two swing states for the 2024 elections.

Eastman faces eight criminal charges in Georgia, where he and other allies of the former president are accused of overturning the results of the 2020 Georgia election. He pleaded not guilty in the case. In Arizona, he and other Trump allies face charges related to their efforts to subvert the 2020 election results in the Grand Canyon state.
