Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) criticized President Biden on Friday, calling him a “demented man” in a post on the X social media platform.

“Our current president is a deranged man supported by evil and deranged people willing to destroy our country to stay in power,” Rubio he said in the post, which features a video of Biden following a Friday announcement about the Israel-Hamas war.

In the video, Biden is walking away from a podium as someone asks him a question.

“Mr. President, can you tell us, sir, [former President Trump] refers to himself as a ‘political prisoner’ and blames him directly, what is your response to that, sir?” the person asks.

The president then stops walking mid-question, turns around and smiles.

An email from the Trump National Committee’s JFC attempting to raise funds based on the former president’s recent guilty verdict in his New York bark money case featured a photo of Trump that labeled him a “political prisoner.” .

“Friend: Is this the end of America? I was just convicted in a fraudulent political witch hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG! They broke into my house, arrested me, took my photo and now they have just convicted me! But with your support at this moment in history, WE WILL TAKE BACK THE WHITE HOUSE AND MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the email says.

Trump on Thursday became the first former president to acquire convicted felon status after a jury found him guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to hide alleged affairs during his 2016 campaign.

Rubio, considered a possible candidate for Trump’s vice presidential spot on his 2024 ticket, is one of many prominent Republicans who have criticized the verdict in the hush money case.

“I think it’s terrible. I think what this shows today is that they can go after a former president with a ridiculous charge like that and get a conviction, they can go after anyone,” Rubio said on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Thursday.

“And most people don’t have the luxury of fighting these things.”

The Hill reached out to the Biden campaign and the White House.
