A lawyer for Stormy Daniels, the adult film star central to former President Trump’s trial, said Friday that Trump’s recent conviction “hit her hard.”

“I got an instant court report,” said attorney Clark Brewster he said in an interview on the program “Elizabeth Vargas Reports. “And so, it hadn’t even made the news yet when I told her, actually. And she was actually kind of surprised.

“I think it was a culmination of a lot of things — the finality of it and, you know, the worry and the nervousness that she felt along the way to it,” he added, but said she didn’t express any “true happiness.” ” about the results. “It was more or less a relief that it was over.”

Trump became the first former president to acquire convicted felon status on Thursday when a 12-person jury found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush-hush payment made to Daniels in 2016. to buy her silence from an alleged past affair.

Brewster suggested his client may have even been surprised by the verdict.

“The finality of it really hit her hard,” he said. “And we had a – a great conversation. I told her how proud I was of her for what she went through.”

Brewster previously noted that Daniels wore a bulletproof vest until the moment he entered the Manhattan courtroom to testify in the high-stakes trial. Daniels also stated that he accepted the money because he feared for his life.

“She was worried about security coming into New York,” Brewster said in an appearance on CNN’s “AC360.” “She wore a bulletproof vest every day until she got to court.”

“I can tell you that before she arrived on Sunday, I mean, she cried herself to sleep,” he continued. “She was paralyzed with fear, not of testifying or telling her story, but of what some crazy person could do to her. And I’m genuinely concerned about that too.”

Trump now faces a July 11 sentencing date set by Judge Juan Merchan, just days before he becomes the official Republican Party presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention. The former president criticized the judge and the trial after being convicted.

“This was a rigged and shameful trial,” Trump said. “The real verdict will be given by the people on November 5th, and they know what happened here, and everyone knows what happened here.”
