Attorney Boris Epshteyn has pleaded not guilty to nine criminal charges in the Arizona fake voter case over the attempt to overturn former President Trump’s 2020 election defeat in the state.

Epshteyn was arraigned at a hearing Tuesday in Phoenix, making him one of the latest people to be charged in the case. Fifteen other people, including Trump’s top allies former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows, have also pleaded not guilty, the Associated Press reported.

Epshteyn is an adviser to Trump and has been accused of helping Giuliani plan to present fake electors for the former president in Arizona, a key battleground state, and prevent President Biden’s victory from being certified. Biden won the state in 2020 by fewer than 11,000 votes.

The New York Times noted that Epshteyn was with Trump after the jury returned its guilty verdict on 34 felony counts last month.

Arizona authorities announced the criminal charges in April. Eleven Republicans and five lawyers linked to Trump have been accused of presenting Congress with a document falsely saying the former president won Arizona.

Fellow attorney Jenna Ellis and former U.S. Senate candidate James Lamon also pleaded guilty Tuesday in Phoenix. Eastman and Giuliani have pleaded not guilty.

Arizona is the fourth state where charges have been filed related to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump was not charged in the Arizona case, but was referred to as an unindicted co-conspirator.
