A man from Virginia is facing charges for threatening online to kill Vice President Harris, and made additional threats to other public officials.

Frank Lucio Carillo was arrested on Friday after a search of his account on the alternative social media platform GETTR by law enforcement authorities resulted in a series of violent threats against the vice president.

“Kamala Harris needs to be burned alive, I will do it personally, if no one else does, I want her to die a slow, agonizing death,” one of the posts read, according to court documents from Aug. 2.

Other posts — all made on July 27, when Harris held her first campaign fundraiser and it became clear that she would be the Democratic nominee — expressed an interest in inflicting grievous bodily harm on Harris. At least 19 references to Harris were found in the account, according to the documents.

Carillo’s posts also targeted other public officials, including President Biden and FBI Director Christopher Wray, although he was not charged for those comments.

The FBI became aware of Carillo’s account after Maricopa County (Ariz.) recorder notified the agency about possible threats made against Maricopa County recorder Stephen Richer, an election official who gained prominence online for resisting false allegations of voter fraud.

In a search of Carillo’s home on Friday, federal agents seized a rifle and a pistol, according to an affidavit filed in support of his arrest. Carillo admitted to a police officer that if he was arrested it would be “because of the online material. I posted it,” the statement read.

Carillo was scheduled to appear in federal court for an initial hearing Monday morning.

The arrest follows the attempted assassination of former President Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, which brought growing threats against public officials to the spotlight.
