Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto pushed back based on an allegation by Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) that progressive billionaire George Soros funded groups involved in pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.

“There is pressure right now from some of these institutions to negotiate with the protesters and to move forward and put to a vote any measure that would call for the divestment of funds or investments in Israel,” Cavuto told Mace. on his show “Your World with Neil Cavuto. “What do you think of that?”

“Well, they want disclosure and divestment,” Mace responded. “I want layoffs. I want people to be kicked out. I want those who are here illegally or on a student visa and participating in these things to be deported. I think it’s a very different scenario, if it were peaceful protests, if it was about the First Amendment, I think it would be a very different thing, but it’s not.”

Mace then stated that several pro-Palestinian groups involved in the student protests are being financially supported by Soros, a Jewish Holocaust survivor.

“There are groups financed by George Soros. There are Palestinian rights groups that I believe are involved, funded by George Soros, and they need to be off our college campuses if they are committing violence, period,” Mace continued.

“Okay,” Cavuto said before walking back his statement. “By the way, there is no evidence that these are funded by George Soros… his parents have denied this. But we’ll see exactly where all that money comes from.”

“We’ll agree to disagree, I guess,” Mace said in response.

Jewish Democrats have criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for suggesting, like Mace, that Soros is somehow behind pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.

Johnson, in an interview with NewsNation’s “The Hill,” advanced the notion that the recent campus protests against Israel’s ongoing conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas are not grassroots operations.

“I think [FBI officials] We need to look at the root causes and find out whether some of this was funded by, I don’t know, George Soros or foreign entities,” Johnson said. “There’s kind of a common theme and a common strategy that seems to be followed on a lot of these campuses.”

Rep. Jerry Nadler (DN.Y.) said in a post on the social platform one of the oldest anti-Semitic tropes in the world.

The Hill reached out to Soros.
