Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) went after President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in an interview that aired Sunday for spending “borrowed” money in Ukraine.

“My main reason for opposing sending money to Ukraine is that we don’t have the money,” Paul said in an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable.” “Money has to be borrowed. So basically we owe China a trillion dollars, they bought a trillion dollars of our debt. Basically, we have to borrow money from China to send it to Ukraine.”

Paul also said in the interview that McConnell and the Biden administration have been telling Ukrainians they would end up in NATO “’no matter what.’”

“Well, that’s the only thing Ukraine actually has that it could negotiate. If they were willing to negotiate, they would be a neutral country and not an ally of the… of the Russians and not an ally of the West, but they would be open to trade with both,” Paul continued. “I think what they could do is negotiate the withdrawal of troops. There is no guarantee that the Russians would withdraw troops, but it would be worth the offer.”

Biden signed a final $95 billion emergency foreign aid package last month with aid to Ukraine and Israel, and called out “MAGA Republicans” for delaying aid to Ukraine.

“For my table, it was a difficult road. It should have been easier and I should have gotten there sooner. But in the end, we did what America always does; we rose to the moment, we came together and we did it,” Biden said.

“For months, while MAGA Republicans blocked aid,” the president continued. “Ukraine is running out of artillery shells and ammunition. Meanwhile, Putin’s friends keep him well supplied.”
