“It is a trust that we have gained at a time when trust is scarce. But there is a gap between the trust and support our families need, and this presents a real opportunity for us to speak to Americans to support military families in their own communities.”

More than half of Americans, 56 percent, said they believe military families have a positive effect on the way things are developing in the United States. This value was, once again, higher than that of all other entities, with the media and Congress tied for the lowest level. by just 21 percent.

About a third of Americans, 35 percent, said the general public is aware of the challenges military life poses to families. Another third of respondents, about 35 percent, said the public “truly” understands.

Nearly half, 45 percent, said the public “truly” appreciates the service provided by military families.

In the survey, two-thirds of Americans said the US will be involved in a “major” conflict in the next 3-5 years. The same percentage said military families play a crucial role in the mission readiness of the U.S. military. More than half of those surveyed, 55 percent, said they believe military families play a central role in the country’s national security.

Most Americans believe that military families should be taken care of.

About 85 percent said the U.S. has a responsibility to care for military families. Another 71 percent agreed that Americans have a responsibility to care for these families. Only a third of those surveyed said they had done something in the past year to help military personnel or these families.

“There is a military family in every zip code in America. At Blue Star Families, we challenge all Americans to do their part to support military families,” said Roth-Douquet.

The survey was conducted May 3-9 among 1,500 U.S. adults. The survey’s margin of error is +/- 2.75.
