Former President Trump on Tuesday posted a letter from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Truth Social, ahead of a meeting he will have later this week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It is with great concern that I received news and later watched footage of his assassination attempt,” said the letter of Abbas readings for Trump. “Acts of violence must have no place in a world of law and order.”

“Respect for others with tolerance and appreciation of human life is what must prevail,” continued Abbas. “Despicable acts of attempted or successful assassinations are acts of weakness with a failure to understand peaceful measures to resolve conflicts.”

In response, Trump thanked Abbas in writing in the letter and said “everything will be fine.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing Bibi Netanyahu on Friday and even more looking forward to achieving peace in the Middle East! DJT”, Trump captioned the publish.

Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month, in which a bullet struck his ear. There have been calls to curb political rhetoric following the shooting from both sides of the aisle.

The Palestinian Authority cut security ties with the US and Israel during the Trump administration, following the introduction of a peace plan for the Middle East.

“We have informed the Israeli side… that there will be no relations with them and the United States, including security ties,” Abbas said at the time, Reuters reported.

Trump and Netanyahu are scheduled to meet on Friday, after Netanyahu delivers a speech to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday. President Biden will also meet with Netanyahu on Thursday.
