President Biden will deliver two commencement addresses next month as part of commencement season, the White House announced Tuesday.

Biden will speak on May 19 at Morehouse College, a historically black college in Atlanta. Senator Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) is among the school’s many notable alumni.

“Proud that @POTUS is this year’s commencement speaker at my alma mater, @Morehouse!” Warnock posted on social platform X.

The Biden administration has often praised its investments at historically black colleges and universities, including through executive actions to advance racial equality and through funding for the American Rescue Plan.

NBC News reported Some Morehouse College faculty members have raised concerns about Biden’s planned visit and possible protests.

In addition to speaking at Morehouse, Biden is scheduled to deliver remarks at the U.S. Military Academy graduation ceremony on May 25. He previously spoke at West Point’s commencement ceremony as vice president in 2016.

It is an annual tradition for the president to speak at a military academy graduation. Biden spoke last year at the Air Force Academy and the year before that at the Naval Academy.
