Anthony Fauci, the face of the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled to appear before a Congressional committee on Monday for the first time since retiring about 18 months ago.

During this period, the House Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic made little progress in its mission to discover the origins of the virus, but made a series of embarrassing discoveries about Fauci’s colleagues.

His testimony comes in the wake of two highly contentious hearings before the subcommittee that raised questions about the level of oversight and conduct that occurred at his agency, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fauci returned to Capitol Hill earlier this year for two days of closed-door interviews with the subcommittee. Transcripts of these all-day interviews were published on Friday.
