Former President Trump attempted to take credit for the price of insulin in a post on Truth Social Saturday.

“The low price of INSULIN was obtained for millions of Americans by me and the Trump administration, not by Crooked [President Biden,]”Trump he said in the Social Truth post. “He had NOTHING to do with it. It was all done long before he took office with such sadness. All he does is try to take credit for things done by others, in this case ME!”

President Biden hailed the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the law that places a $35 limit on insulin for those on Medicare, as a major achievement.

“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, instead of paying $400 a month for insulin, seniors on Medicare will pay just $35 a month,” the president said. he said in a post on social platform X late last year.

Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, cited Trump in a post on X, saying the former president “failed” to limit insulin costs.

“That’s how you know Donald Trump has a vulnerability. Trump has promised to limit insulin costs.

Biden’s campaign made reducing the cost of prescription drugs through the Inflation Reduction Act a key re-election message for Biden, and touted the passage of the IRA as one of his key achievements.

The message also seeks to draw a contrast with Trump.

“Donald Trump was too weak to take on Big Pharma and lower prescription drug prices for seniors as president – but Joe Biden did it. As a result, millions are seeing lower prices on the life-saving medications they depend on,” Biden campaign spokesman Seth Schuster previously said in a December statement to The Hill.

Schuster also said that if the former president returned to the White House for a second term, “prices will skyrocket and Americans who currently benefit from $35 insulin may have to choose between paying their rent and purchasing their essential medications.”

The Hill reached out to the Biden campaign.
