Jean-Pierre interrupts White House press conference after person faints

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre interrupted a press conference Tuesday after someone fainted, according to a pool report.

In the middle of a take question from a reporter during the briefing, another person in the room can be heard stating that there was “an emergency.”

“Oh wait,” Jean-Pierre said in response as he walked away from the podium in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “Did someone faint?”

Jean-Pierre then went to the back of the meeting room, where a few other people were gathered. Many turned their heads toward Jean-Pierre as she stood at the back of the room for a few moments.

Upon his return to the podium, Jean-Pierre asked if people needed water, noting that it was hot in the meeting room.

Washington, DC, saw temperatures in the 90s on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The agency also predicted that the District could face sweltering heat of up to 99 degrees until Saturday, as much of the country beyond the capital faces intense temperatures this week.

“Dozens of daily temperature records are expected to fall in the coming days,” the agency said. he said in a Tuesday post on social platform X. “Readings will generally be much higher than normally expected, even during the hottest part of the summer.”

“Stay calm. Stay hydrated. Check on your neighbors,” the agency continued.
